Strategy Lab

A consistent toss is half your edge. Knowing how to bet it is the other half.
Bring your Roll Matrix session over in one tap, pick your real table, and test 50+ craps strategies on your actual rolls. The Betting Coach reads your dice and shows you how to bet them — for the way you like to play.

Start here: find your edge
  1. Prove the toss in Roll Matrix. Practice in bouts and let Pattern Intelligence check that your toss repeats. An edge is a 7s rate below 16.7% (SRR above 6) that shows up bout after bout, not in one lucky session.
  2. Send the session here. In Roll Matrix tap Test betting strategies. One shooter and one set of conditions at a time — every shooter's toss is different.
  3. Pick your real table and bankroll below, then press Rank all strategies.
  4. Choose your style in the Betting Coach — Conservative, Aggressive, Long time at the table, or Hit and run. It reads your dice, picks a plan, and tells you how to play it.
  5. Trust what holds up: beat fair dice 80% or more, money in both halves of your rolls, 300+ tosses. A big win on a short session is usually luck.
  6. Take your plan to the casino in your head. No phones at the craps table, so memorize three things: your bets for that table, your walk-away goal and your stop-loss — in chips. Set the stop-loss chips aside in the rail when you buy in; when they're gone, you're done. After you play, away from the table, write down what you remember about each hand (rolls, points made) — that tells you whether your toss travels.

1. Load Roll Matrix Data

In Roll Matrix tap Test betting strategies to bring your session straight here, or export a Full Session CSV (or Raw Roll CSV) and load one or several sessions. Your rolls stay in your browser.
No session loaded.

2. Table & Bankroll

How results are counted: every strategy replays the exact same rolls. Bet sizes scale with your table minimum. Center bets (hardways, Any Craps) are one-fifth of the minimum and never below the table's center minimum — $1 at red-chip tables, $5 at $25 and up, where $1 center bets aren't offered. Place, buy and hardway bets are off on the come-out; come-bet odds are off on the come-out; lay bets always work. Results include chips still on the table at face value. The fair-dice comparison replays each strategy on random dice of the same length to show whether your rolls did better than luck.

★ My Plan Builder — your best strategy, built from your rolls

Prices every bet on the layout for your dice, then builds a plan from only the bets you're good at, inside the limits you're comfortable with. Tested on thousands of simulated sessions and re-checked on fresh ones before you see it. Nothing here is a guarantee — it's the best bet selection your practice supports.

A few questions about how you like to play. Saved on this device.
Pick a level, then fine-tune anything below. The coach tells you if your bankroll fits.
Most tables have one or two of All-Tall-Small, the Fire Bet and Repeaters. The plan only uses what's on the table.
Bonus and side bets — most per bet ($0 = never play it). Center bets (hardways, Any Craps) have a $1 minimum under a $25 table and $5 at $25 and up — a bet below that isn't used.
Dealer bets on your own hands ($0 = none). Counted as a cost on every hand you shoot.
Other shooters — outside Las Vegas you usually need a bet of at least the table minimum on the shooter before you to get the dice.
What does earning the dice cost?Any bet that meets the table minimum counts — a $10 Pass Line or $10 on the 5 at a $10 table. The cheapest way: one table-minimum line bet, no odds, made once. At a $25 table it costs about 35¢ per shooter on average, against about 89¢ for a Pass Line bet every come-out (a hand averages 2.5 line decisions) and $1.39 for a single Field bet. Don't Pass is a hair cheaper than Pass (1.36% vs 1.41%). A place bet works too but costs more — $10 on the 5 averages 40¢ a decision, $12 on the 6 or 8 about 18¢, against 14¢ for a $10 Pass Line. Odds don't change the average cost, only the swings, so skip them on other shooters. A long-shot mix like $15 Pass + $5 All-Tall-Small + $5 Any Craps ($35 out) costs about $2 per shooter on random dice and finishes ahead about 1 time in 7 — but pays $150 or more about 1 in 24 and $800 or more about 1 in 200, when they make 'em all.

How the ratings and plans work

Every bet is priced with dice that roll like your practice, blended toward random dice using Trust in your practice from the simulator below. Then it's priced again for hundreds of plausible versions of you, since a few hundred rolls can be lucky. Proven means the bet comes out ahead in 9 of 10 or more of those versions; Promising 3 in 4; Unproven about a coin flip; Avoid means the house most likely keeps its edge.

The plan builder always plays the Pass Line (the shooter has to), tries every mix of your best box numbers, odds and pressing style inside your limits, then adds only the bonus bets rated Promising or better. "Own money when a hand starts" counts the worst case — your odds on a 6 or 8 point plus every other bet up. Presses are paid from winnings.

Sessions include the other shooters you tell it about, rolling random dice, with the bets you choose for them — so the results show what a whole session at the table looks like, not just your own hands.

Pay tables differ by casino — check the layout. Repeaters, All-Tall-Small and the Fire Bet are big-swing bets: they lose most of the time and pay large when they hit.

What usually costs a good shooter money

A shooter with fewer 7s has longer hands and makes more points. These are the common ways that edge gets left on the table:

  • Flat bets without odds. Odds have no house edge and pay exactly when you make a point. On the same rolls, Pass with full odds can earn many times what a flat Pass bet does.
  • Too few numbers working. One or two Come bets with odds give a long hand more numbers to pay.
  • Taking bets down too early. Hit-and-run cuts off the long hands that are your edge. Press with winnings instead, and go back to base bets after the seven-out.
  • Chasing numbers from one session. Bet a favorite number only when it shows up across repeated bouts.
  • Hardways, Field and center bets. They carry the biggest house edge and only make sense if your doubles rate is clearly above 16.7%.
  • Betting the dark side on your own roll. Don't Pass and lay bets win when the 7 shows — the opposite of your edge.

Simulator & Strategy Finder

Plays thousands of future sessions with dice that roll like yours — blended with random dice, so one lucky practice run can't fool it — then finds the betting plans that work best for your goal. Uses your table, bankroll and game from section 2.

How the simulator works

Your Roll Matrix rolls set how often each dice combination comes up. Because a few hundred practice rolls can be lucky, every simulated session uses a slightly different version of you, and your numbers are blended toward random dice: Cautious trusts your practice least, Full practice numbers the most. Balanced also assumes only part of your practice edge carries over to a casino table.

A session is your own turns with the dice (betting on other shooters isn't included). Each session starts with the bankroll from section 2.

The Strategy Finder tests every strategy in the library plus plans built around your strongest numbers, keeps the best for your goal, then re-tests the finalists on brand-new sessions so a lucky first pass can't win. Every pick is also run with random dice, so you can see what your toss is worth to it.

Your real results

Log casino sessions in the Session Tracker — before you sit down and after you get up, never at the table. Your own-roll results show up here next to what the simulator expected.

Notes

v0.16: Short-hand plans (hit and run) — the best way to bank money on a hand that lasts 6–12 rolls: heavy bets on your best numbers, take the money after a hit or two, then stay down, regress, or go back up. Each plan shows results for hands of 2–5, 6–12 and 13+ rolls, and how your hand lengths compare with a random shooter. The main plan builder also tests a heavy start that regresses into your regular plan once you're out of the hand. New setting: the most you'll put on the numbers for a hit and run.
v0.15.1: Built for dice influencers: each table has a surface (firm, fair, bouncy, very bouncy) that sets how much of your practice edge counts there — casino profiles now include Wynn, Encore and Vanderpump table notes. Sessions now include some where your toss is off, and your toss check (walk away after two quick seven-outs early) is built into the plan, with what it's worth. Presses run to the table maximum, a press up, rack the rest style was added, and every plan shows a Pressing styles compared table with great sessions (1 in 100) and the best session, so you can see what monster hands do for the average.
v0.15: Pressing in real dollars. A full press puts the whole win back up in $5 steps ($6 on the 6 and 8) — $30 → $60 → $126 on a 6, $25 → $60 → $140 on a 5, $25 → $75 on a bought 4 — and the builder now tests small presses ($5/$6 or $10/$12), press-then-regress, press-collect-press, collect-then-press, take-it-down, and house money (collect until you've racked back everything you put out that hand, then press). Every plan shows a dollar ladder for each number, what to do when the point is made, when one-roll props go up, whether to press a hardway or prop that hits, and adding to odds with winnings. The other plans shown are now genuinely different (steadier, simpler), and each plan has a pocket card to print or screenshot.
v0.14: My Plan Builder now sits right after loading your rolls. Save results to review later — view, download as text, or back up everything to move to another device. Casino profiles (Fontainebleau, Wynn, Vanderpump, Flamingo, Century Cape Girardeau, Ameristar KC, Virgin Voyages, Fairmont El San Juan, plus Las Vegas and Mississippi defaults) fill in table minimum and maximum, bonus bets and pay tables — and you can save your own tables. Presses stop at the table maximum; 20× odds and the 35/35/175 All-Tall-Small table are supported.
v0.13.1: Tell it which bonus bets your table has — All-Tall-Small, the Fire Bet, Repeaters, or a combination — and the plan uses only those. The coach points out good bonus bets for your dice that aren't on that table.
v0.13: One-tap aggression levels — Conservative, Moderate, Aggressive, Very aggressive — fill in the questionnaire for you. The plan builder now also tries don't-side plans (Don't Pass, lay odds, lay bets) when your dice favor the 7, one-roll props (hops, horn, hi-lo, yo, C&E, Any Craps) when they rate Promising or better, come bets at the bolder levels, and hardways and Repeaters on crapless. Prop payouts can be set to "for 1" tables, which pay one less.
v0.12.1: The coach compares traditional and crapless at the same Pass Line bet, tests your come-out insurance with and without, rates Small, Tall and All separately and tries each on its own or at smaller amounts, and warns when there aren't enough practice rolls yet. New settings: your Pass Line bet (separate from the table minimum) and how much of your practice edge carries to the casino — 25% up to "just like home play".
v0.12: Crapless in My Plan Builder — extremes placed or bought, working on the come-out with hop-the-reds, Three-Way or Four-Way Red insurance, odds and inside numbers after one roll. A Betting coach checks your bankroll and table level for every plan ("come to the casino with what it takes to win"). Every bet on the layout is now rated for your dice, and plans carry a clear theoretical disclaimer.
v0.11: My Plan Builder rates every bet for your dice — Pass Line, odds, box numbers, hardways, All-Tall-Small, the Fire Bet and Repeaters — as Proven, Promising, Unproven or Avoid, finds the dice set you throw best, asks how you like to play, and builds a plan in dollars from only your best bets. One tap sends it to the Session Tracker.
v0.10: the Session Tracker (craps) and Casino Tracker (every game) live here now, sharing one record. Tap Use this plan at the casino on any pick and it's waiting in the tracker when you sit down; your real own-roll results come back under Your real results.
v0.9: the Simulator & Strategy Finder plays thousands of future sessions with dice that roll like yours (blended toward random so a lucky run can't fool it), finds the plans that work best for your goal — including plans built around your strongest numbers — and compares each one with a random shooter.
v0.8: every strategy has a How to play guide — the bets in dollars for your table, what to tell the dealer, when it wins and when it hurts — with Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced and Low / Medium / High risk tags. Tap a leaderboard row to see why it ranked there for your dice (the numbers it needs against fair dice, points made, luck against fair dice) and the money you'll need to play it.
v0.7.3: sessions that switch between Traditional and Crapless (Roll Matrix v0.58) keep each roll's game; replay all of them under either game's rules, or pick one game's rolls under Analyze.
v0.7.1: a Start here guide to finding your edge — prove the toss in Roll Matrix, then learn to bet it here — and a coach section on what usually costs a good shooter money.
v0.7: the Betting Coach reads the shooter's dice (7s and each number against fair dice) and picks a plan for your style — conservative, aggressive, long time at the table, or hit and run — with plain-English reasons, how to play it, and whether it held up in both halves of the rolls.
v0.6: table limits match real tables ($5, $10 and $15 red-chip tables, the common $25 green-chip table, $50 and $100) with $5 center bets at $25 and up; sessions arrive from Roll Matrix in one tap; multi-line session notes no longer break CSV loading; rolls are kept per shooter; short sessions carry a luck warning.
Strategy Lab v0.5 adds a library of common craps systems — line and odds, come bets and the 3-Point Molly, place and across play, press and regression plans, Iron Cross, Field and hardways, dark-side and lay plays, hedges and betting progressions — plus your own builder. Rank all strategies replays every compatible strategy against your imported Roll Matrix rolls and ranks them. Your 220 Inside family and come-out protection plays are included as written. Past rolls show how a plan would have done; they don't guarantee future results, and every strategy keeps the house edge on random dice.
